Kelso win by 8 wickets

Hawick gave a good accont of themselves against Championsip side Kelso on Thursday in the Border T20 but the Tweedisders overseas pro Joel Veeran showed his class to guide the visitors to victory.

The Teries batted first and Stuart Hair got them off to a rapid start with a series of boundaries in his quickfire 19. Hawick continued to score at a steady rate until Kelso duo Callum and Greg Davidson pegged the scoreboard back. Evan Alexander made 20 and Ronan Alexander scored 21 as Hawick battled up to 99 all out. A good score against a club 4 divisions higher than Hawick.

In reply, Kelso never looked in any trouble as Thomas Roberts made 26 before he was brilliantly caught on the boundary as Gary Alexander dived to his left off the bowling of Ronan Alexander.

Morgan Tait then got his first wicket of the season as overseas amateur Troy Chilcott was caught for 15 but it was Natal professional Joel Veeran who boasts the likes of Imran Tahir and David Miller as his team mates back in South Africa who saw Kelso home with an unbeaten 45.
